John Bonanni's hand-sewn chapbook, a rotary phone that dings when you move it, looks to ACT UP and AIDS history as an exploration of elegy and hope in times of political neglect and turmoil. Using archival materials such as the ACT UP Oral History Project, poems resurface collective memory to better document growing up queer in a time of active erasure.
